Pike Fishing Rigs, Knots and Traces Index  E-mail

pop-up livebait rig for pike fishingIn this section you will find information about the most popular pike fishing rigs used by many of the successful pike anglers across the UK. Whilst there is a large number of rigs in this section, many of us will have one or two 'favourite' rigs we will use for the majority of our pike fishing. Thats not to say that this is a bad thing, as this often is built on confidence gained from using and undestanding that one or two rigs suit the anglers style and allow him or her to focus on the finer points of pike fishing and know that if the pike are located, the rigs will work.

The rigs are all well annotated with pop up detail and are well described in accompanying texts, there is also an opportunity to purchase components to make the rigs etc, whilst browsing the website and the rigs pages.

Dependant on whether you are new to pike fishing or an experienced pike angler, you will ultimately settle on a couple of rigs that you find work best for you and allow you to get on with the job of catching pike, knowing the rig will do the job.

You will also come across a vast number of individual variations of many of these rigs, typically that the angler has made to further fine tune 'his' rig to suit his fishing, you ultimately will do likewise, taking a reference from the rigs here you will ultimately make such adjustments to your rigs. Nothing wrong at all with that, its what makes pike angling what it is, we have all started with what was in use then and have adapted and modified tackle and rigs, its called evolution, long may this continue. You may well have a rig to contribute in time, in the meantime these rigs should help you catch pike and build a future in pike fishing.

The section also shows you some of the popular knots to attach lines to spools and terminal tackle and traces, it also shows traces and how to make them using various methods that are popular and reliable, both crimped and by twisting.

Additional rigs, knots and trace information will be added and updated if and when there are any that are useful or of improved quality.

The rigs, knots and traces in this section are as follows:

These have been provided based upon the feeling that this is what will provide you with access to how rigs are assembled and fished for the vast majority of venues throughout the UK.

Like all aspects of the sport there is often the need to 'adapt' to succeed against the odds. The rigs shown in the diagrams are all adaptable in some way or other and should provide a functional base on which you can build an armoury of methods that catch pike. For sure these are working examples and if you choose to use them as described and illustrated you will catch pike!
