Pike rigs are both universal and personal elements in the quest of those who wish to catch pike. Universal in that many of the basic rigs are used by many anglers, personal in that each and every pike angler will have their own interpretation of each rig and will assemble 'his or her' version as it evolved over the time the angler has used it. This variation typically will be a particular float, hooks and trace wire, crimped or whipped traces etc, what you will learn here should not be any different, adapt and modify to suit your needs and style, but do have an open mind and consider if the suggested rigs may do the job better.
This section covers many of the 'Universal' rigs in use by pike anglers, but they should be considered a 'Personal' interpretation of the universal design and whilst they are all rigs that have and do readily catch pike, they are illustrated and described to provide a base reference to practical rigs ,which on their own, if copied slavishly, will catch pike! Beyond that, they can be customised by each and every one of you to your own specifications using your float, trace and hooks of choice. So with that in mind take a look and make your mind up on whether to copy them as seen or feel free to modify to your needs.
Whether you copy or modifiy the set up, have the confidence in that they will all catch pike if used correctly and where pike are present! That latter part is entirely in your hands, although hopefully through the various other sections on the Pike Online website, Baits, Fisheries and Where to Fish, you should be able to put a bait in front of a pike or two. More importantly hook and land them safely ....... so enjoy!
